Skilled Writer, Editor & Leader — Prepared to Tackle Any Communication Need

Alexandra (Alex) Kincaid is a skilled public relations professional prepared to handle writing, editing, content creation, and all internal and external communication needs. With a strong understanding of audience, voice, and tone, she can craft content to help an organization achieve specific outcomes or goals. As a former journalist, she is also particularly skilled at media relations and anticipating questions from reporters.

She currently serves as the Director of the Public Information Office for the Dayton Public School District. In this role, she handles media relations, crisis communication, oversees a strategic communications plan, generates internal and external content to keep stakeholders informed, and supervises and evaluates her team, among other duties. The Public Information Office is responsible for the district website, social media, newsletters (digital and print), video content, podcasts, public records requests, and plays an integral role in shaping public perception and maintaining rapport with stakeholders.

In early 2023, she was recognized as one of the top 35 school PR professionals under 35 years of age in the United States by the National School Public Relations Association. That same year, the Dayton Business Journal showcased her as a 40 under 40 honoree, which recognizes the top 40 young professionals in the region.

In June 2023, she was featured in the OSBA Journal to discuss her role and experience in school PR.

She formerly worked as a reporter for The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette near Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

She is a 2017 summa cum laude graduate of Ball State University where she majored in journalism with a concentration in magazine media.

While at Ball State, she served as the editor-in-chief of the university’s nationally award-winning magazine, Ball Bearings. She is also a former editorial fellow for Indianapolis Monthly

Kincaid is diligent, detail-oriented, and can juggle multiple projects and deadlines with ease. She believes in leading by example and doing things the right way — even if it’s not always the easy way.

Her skills include writing, editing, interviewing, researching, fact-checking, media relations, social media, graphic design, strategic communications, and crisis communications. She is experienced in Canva, social media management tools, Google Workspace, Microsoft, WordPress, Wix, and other content management systems.
