About Alexandra

Alexandra Kincaid is the Writer and Content Specialist for the Dayton Public School District in Dayton, OH. She serves as lead writer for the district and superintendent, oversees internal and external district-wide communications, and handles media relations and newsletters, among other things.

IMG-8851In her first year with DPS, she received national awards for her parent newsletter, writing, and contributions to a district-wide campaign from the National School Public Relations Association.

Formerly, she worked as a reporter for The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette near Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

In her first year at the newspapers, she received two first place awards from the South Carolina Press Association for news feature writing and government beat reporting.

She is a 2017 summa cum laude graduate from Ball State University where she majored in journalism and minored in political science and women’s and gender studies.

Kincaid is the former editor-in-chief of Ball State University’s nationally award-winning magazine, Ball Bearings. She is also a former editorial fellow for Indianapolis Monthly

In 2016, she received two national first place awards from the Associated Collegiate Press and the College Media Association. Kincaid is also a Hearst Journalism Awards finalist in enterprise reporting.

Her skills include writing, interviewing, researching and fact-checking, along with marketing, media relations, and internal and external communications. She is detail-oriented, diligent and can meet deadlines. She is experienced in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, WordPress, Wix and other content management systems.
